comments
From eBird report: "Likely a juv. (1st winter); 1st reported earlier that day from Cheek Rd. causeway by Peter Perlman + Doug Shadwick. We re-found bird loafing on spit of land in Ellerbe Creek arm of Falls Lake amidst hundreds of DC Cormorants and RB Gulls. Seen in direct comparison w/ Ring-billed Gulls and Herring Gull and unmistakeable due to uniform pale "frosty" light brown coloration across body plumage, with little contrast with wing-tips not noticeable darker. Relatively thin black bill, rounded brown head with prominent dark eye for "innocent" look, pink legs all noted. Appeared to limp when walking but observed in flight as it headed out towards main Lake and out of view."
