General Comments Hammond's Flycatcher is a species of the Western states, breeding primarily in coniferous forests, and wintering mainly in Mexico. Though there are a good handful of recent records now for the East Coast, the Carolinas had no records until one was mist-netted, banded, measured, and photographed on private property in Randolph, on 12 Dec 2020; it was re-found and photographed at this site on 9 Jan 2021* [Chat 86:23 link]. The NC BRC accepted the record on a second vote; photographs are on the CBC Photo Gallery.
