General Comments This is a species of the Neotropics, nesting from northern Mexico into northern South America. It is migratory in much of Mexico and Central America, though on numerous occasions it has occurred in southern TX and CA, and very rarely on the Gulf and southern Atlantic coasts. A first report for the state was one seen and photographed by a handful of observers, at Nags Head Woods (Dare) on 14-15 May 2021* [Chat 85:126 link]. A few photos are available on the Carolina Bird Club Photo Gallery and eBird reports; it has been accepted by the NC BRC.
