General Comments Accidental. A winter-plumaged Brambling was videotaped at a feeder in Brevard (Transylvania) on 31 Oct 1998* [Chat 65:86 link]. The videotape was viewed and accepted by the NC BRC, and it is held at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences for permanent documentation of this first state record. Sadly, this amazing record has never been published in full, nor has a still frame from the video been published. Thus, birders and others have no details available to judge for themselves that this common Eurasian species miraculously appeared at a feeder in the mountains, on Halloween!
