General Comments
A few decades ago, the Solitary Vireo was split into three species -- from east to west the Blue-headed, the Plumbeous, and the Cassin's. The two more western species seldom have been reported in the eastern half of North America, and thus a complete shock was the spotting and photographing of a Plumbeous Vireo in NC in 2023. And even more surprising was that it was an actively singing male, on the odd "late spring" date of 7 Jun* (Chat 87:80), (Chat 88:53). The bird was found on Colington Island (Dare) and was seen and photographed by a handful of birders, though it was not relocated on following days.
