General Comments
Accidental. The only record of Spotted Towhee in North Carolina was a male in Fayetteville (Cumberland) on 10-14 Feb 1957, which was collected and delivered to the NC Museum of Natural Sciences (Chat 21:46-47), (Chat 61:262). This species is the western counterpart to Eastern Towhee (P. erythrophthalmus) and is accidental in the eastern United States.
