General Comments
Accidental. The only accepted state record of Green-tailed Towhee was a bird found near Southport (Brunswick) on 5 Jan 2002 and seen by many birders until about 24 Apr* (Chat 69:38-40), (Chat 67:3-4). Photographs of this bird are on the Carolina Bird Club Photo Gallery. An unaccepted sighting from Bodie Island (Dare) on 28 Nov 1975 was reported in American Birds (30:53), without any supporting information or documentation (Chat 54:58). A sight report from Craven in Mar 2024 was reviewed by the NC BRC and received a split vote, and thus has an Unresolved status (Chat 90:6); it may or may not be reviewed again at a later date.
